We’re less than a week out from the start of this year’s legislative session. Are you excited?
I’m excited. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, I think there’s something special about witnessing history in action (even though much of it is behind closed doors.)
There are three key dates to mark on your calendar for the month of January:
Jan. 8: The first day of the legislative session
Jan. 14: Gov. Kathy Hochul’s State of the State address
Jan. 21: The deadline for Hochul to submit her executive budget to the Legislature
There are seven scheduled days of session for the month of January but keep in mind that lawmakers may hold hearings on the state budget on off-session days.
But today, we’re taking a trip into both the future and the past to find out some of the big items lawmakers are expected to consider in the 2025 legislative session.
