🚆 Hochul’s Subway Safety Plan
🚨 Crime on the subway system in New York City dropped 15.4 percent in February compared to the same month last year, the New York City Police Department said Wednesday.
They attribute that reduction to a surge of NYPD officers sent into the subway system, to prevent and address crime.
Arrests in the transit system account for less than 2 percent of all major crimes committed in New York City, the NYPD said.
But Gov. Kathy HOCHUL is seeking to drive those numbers lower. She announced a five-point plan Wednesday that she said is targeted at safety on the subway.
“These brazen, heinous attacks on our subway system will not be tolerated,” Hochul said. “There’s a psychological impact. People worry they could be next.”
