Hochul: 'I don't play games. I'm not going to flatter somebody'
And two housing bills get support from rural leaders ahead of a decision from Hochul.

More would be required from hospitals that want to close departments or facilities under a bill in Hochul’s hands. Hospitals are opposed.
🚆 Hochul says she won’t court Trump’s favor as she works with him
Gov. Kathy Hochul is betting that President-elect Donald J. Trump won’t turn his back on New York City’s underfunded public transit system.
She was in Putnam County Wednesday to speak briefly from within a train car (it was weird) about recent efforts to improve Metro-North, like new infrastructure at Garrison Station and accessibility upgrades.
Metro-North is part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s network, which means the state helps fund those kinds of projects. But the federal government also helps fund the MTA.
Hochul said Trump already knows how important it is to the region.
“He understands more than any previous president how important this system is. It is the lifeblood of our city and our region,” Hochul said. Trump is, famously, a New York City native.
