🗣️ Hochul: ‘We should aspire to be a people of words, not bullets’ on ‘disgusting, cowardly’ Trump shooting
🔴 New York Republicans also condemned the shooting Monday and called on Americans to ‘unify behind some common themes.’
After former President Donald J. TRUMP was shot Saturday in an apparent assassination attempt, legislators and newsmakers began to issue statements condemning the attack.
Each of those had a clear, unified message: that violence has no place in politics, regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on.
That was also Gov. Kathy HOCHUL’s message in remarks Monday, when she spoke about the shooting direct-to-camera.
“Violence in our politics is abhorrent and we thoroughly, thoroughly condemn it. It was a disgusting, cowardly act and it does not represent the values of our country,” Hochul said.
