🗣️ Hochul will meet with Trump Friday morning at the White House
Gov. Kathy Hochul reached out to President Donald J. Trump Wednesday to ask for another meeting at the White House after their last one didn’t go the way she wanted.
“I want to carry on the conversation we had in the oval office a couple weeks ago,” Hochul said Thursday.
The last time Hochul met with Trump, it was her chance to save congestion pricing, a controversial new toll for drivers that enter the busiest parts of Manhattan. The president was unconvinced.
New York has been ordered by the Trump administration to end the toll by March 21. Hochul has said she’s not planning to comply with that order and is betting that a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Transportation will save the program.
Hochul said she plans to discuss the toll again Friday but that several other items are also on the table.
“I have a lot on my agenda. We talked about infrastructure, Penn Station,” Hochul said. “I want to talk about our concerns about energy in light of the tariffs.”
But Trump said Thursday he has something to talk to Hochul about as well.
