🎤 What Trump said at the Al Smith dinner
The Al Smith dinner once again brought together some of New York’s biggest names in politics Thursday night.
If you’re not familiar with the Al Smith dinner, it’s an event that brings together New York’s political elite and, sometimes, their friends and families.
And by elite, I mean elite: former President Donald Trump, Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg were a small sample of those who attended.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who chairs the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation, was seated beside Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson was near them as well.
It’s a great way to raise money for grants and programs that benefit vulnerable communities. As comedian Jim Gaffigan said when he spoke at the dinner: “Good evening, rich people.”
But the “headliner,” if you will, was former President Donald Trump, who roasted the room for about 30 minutes. Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t attend but sent a video.
Trump mostly trashed Harris and Democrats in Congress, but I thought you’d like to see what he said about some of the people who were there.
