What was new in Hochul's State of the State address Tuesday
And what top lawmakers had to say in response.
Good afternoon — it’s Tuesday and World Logic Day.
In today’s CapCon:
Gov. Kathy Hochul delivered her fourth State of the State address Tuesday.
Here’s what we already knew about, what we learned more about and what we didn’t know ahead of the speech.
The leaders of the state Legislature gave their initial reaction to the address afterward.
🗣️ What was in Hochul’s fourth State of the State
Gov. Kathy Hochul upped the production of her State of the State address this year, moving it from the traditional venue of the Assembly chamber to a theater in The Egg.
There was a lot in there but some of the proposals we had a close eye on were short on details. Those will be included in Hochul’s executive budget next week.
For now, we have Hochul’s State of the State address and the 140-page book that was released Tuesday alongside it. (I’ll link to this down lower.)
I’m going to split this into three sections: things we already knew about, things we learned more about and things we didn’t know about.
